- I walked into this strange house, in pain. This unknown place was my only hope, as I was terribly injured.
- My servant, Pedro, helped me to get in, and he carried me to a quite special room filled with all kinds of paintings.
- Next to my bed, layed a book that narrated the story of all the paintings on the wall. I started to indaget them randomly. Until I saw her standing still on that oval portrait, there was something different in that painting, something that drove me into it, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I was quite sure that it was her smile.
- Berenice was the strong, healthy one out of her cousins, always shining like a bright newsun. Until that evil day when she contracted that illness, that came down on her like a sudden storm.
- Berenice was Eagus’s cousin, they lived together in the family house since they were children, and she has been in love with him since then. But Eagus never loved her, because he wasn’t able to. He never saw her as a living Berenice, Berenice was a dream to him, she was the idea of Berenice, someone to think about, not someone to love. And that was because he had monomania, a mental illness that made him obsess over something. But one day out of pity, he decided to propose her something to make her happy.
