Children's storybook that focuses on unit 3, human-environment interaction.
טקסט Storyboard
Human-environment interaction is how people change and react to the world around them.
Hi! I'm taking a hike through the woods. This forest is a perfect example of human-environment interaction.
A hurricane is a big, windy storm that starts in the ocean. It can cause floods, destroy houses and even uproot trees!
For example, this area used to get flooded a lot because of hurricanes.
We didn't want that, so people built a dam to stop the flooding!
This is an example of people modifying, or changing, the world to fit our needs.
Sometimes people hurt the environment to fit their needs. Humans depend, or rely on, the earth to grow food, but bad farming practices can lead to desertification or salinazation.
Desertification is when good lands turn into a desert because of drought or bad farming practices. Salinization is when salt builds up on soil because it was watered too much.
This place used to be full of trees, but they were cut down in an act called deforestation to make room for farmland.
Some forests are cleared with slash-and-burn, which means plants are cut down and burned to clear land. This kills many plants and animals. and pollutes (dirties) the air.
so if we want to keep living on it,
we should use it in way that keeps it safe for generations to come.
All in all, humans need the earth more than it needs us
