- Erikson second stage Autonomy Vs. Shame/ Doubt describes when a child develops confidence to take care of themselves or they doubt they can do it. In this picture here Mary is praising Rose for being able to drink from a cup by herself.
- Erikson's fourth stage, it describes that they have pleasure from winning and recognition from their peers, friends and family. If they are not accepted and do not meet expectations then lack of self doubt will develop. In this Rose won the science fair and is recognized by her peers and friends.
- Erkison fifth stage, it describes someone trying different roles to find their identity. If they can't then they might get confused about who they are later on. Here it shows Rose exploring different identities to see what fits her in the end.
