- Telemachus rings the bell to start a council meeting.

- Telemachus confronts the men for stealing his goods and feasting in his house. The men say it is because they want to marry Penelope, but she continues to lead them on.

- Birds start to fly down at the men and attack. The old man sees this as a sign of doom.
- Telemachus prays for his father to help him. The mentor tells him that he will give him ships as well as travel with him to find his father.
