- I can't believe the increase in prices of food. In particular the lettuce, what is going on? I haven't been shopping since became unemployed!
- It is a classic case of demand pull inflation. There is a shortage of lettuce due to crop issues in California. As a result, there are only limited heads of lettuce available. It is amazing what the grocery stores will charge when there is short supply. They know the consumer will pay these prices to have the product.
