- In this scene, the grandma is trying to convince her family to go to Tennessee because of the misfit in Florida that they originally were going to go.
- “You all ought to take them some where else for a change so they would see different parts of the world and be broad. They never have been to east Tennessee.”
- "...a horrible thought came to her. The thought was so embarrassing that she turned red in the face and her eyes dilated and her feet jumped up, upsetting her valise in the corner. The instant the valise moved, the newspaper top she had over the basket under it rose with a snarl, and Pitty Sing, the cat, sprang onto Bailey’s shoulder."
- The grandma startled the cat because she realized she is going to the wrong house.
- “She would of been a good woman,” The Misfit said, “if it had been somebody there toshoot her every minute of her life.”
- The grandma tried everything in her sleeve to get the misfit to let her live and she even tried playing the mother part but it didn't work and he shot her.
