- Battle of AntietamSep 17, 1862While the Union won the Battle of Antietam it is known as the bloodiest battle of America. But still america won and it provided Lincoln the chance to declare the Emancipation Proclamation freeing all the slaves in the south

- The Battle of VicksburgMay 18, 1863After a 47 day siege the South surrendered to General Grant and the Unions victory was secured. This was a joyous occasion for the people and marked the surrender of General Lee of the Confederate army who was offered a chance to be a Union General but chose instead to follow his state and try to secede from the Union as a whole.
