- The Patriarch Abraham made a covenant with God promising that if he and his family left Ur and traveled to Canaan, that one day, it would be his descendants Promised Land. Years later, a famine struck in Canaan. Abraham’s grandson, Jacob and his family fled to Egypt. As the Isrealites grew more numerous the Pharaoh became mistrustful of the Israelites and their Monotheistic religion, so Pharaoh enslaved them!!!
- We escaped!

- Moses, an israelite who grew up in the Pharaoh’s palace, asked the Pharaoh for permission to lead the ancient Hebrews out of Egypt because the Pharaoh became distrustful of the Hebrews and enslaved them. The Pharaoh then refused and Moses threatened the Pharaoh with many harsh punishments.
- Thank you God
- One punishment was that the Egyptians would face sicknesses and swarms of harmful insects. Another was that every Egyptian first born son would be killed. To avoid this punishment, they would have to mark their doorways with the blood of a lamb- every Egyptian had to or else they would face the punishment of their first born son dying.
- We did it!
- After the final punishment, the Pharaoh strictly demanded the ancient Hebrews to leave Egypt. When the Pharaoh demanded them to leave, Moses led the Israelites to the Sinai Peninsula, which was far out of the Pharaoh’s reach. The Freedom of Hebrews is called the Exodus and is remembered during the week of Passover.
- The Israelites stopped at the foot of Mount Sinai while Moses walked up the mountain. He received what are known today as The Ten Commandments, which were given to him by God. The Ten Commandments are a list of laws or ways to behave to support God.
- Joshua led the Israelites into Canaan and they conquered Jericho. After conquering Jericho, the Joshua and the Israelites conquered many other small kingdoms.
