- In 1773 the Tea Act was passed placing taxes on the colonists for buying tea, improving the tea market majorly for the British.
- The anger of the colonists led them to boycotting the tea company but for some that wasn't enough...
- This outraged the colonist as it would place tea out of reach for many and help an already thriving business.
- Vandalism- action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.Activism- using vigorous campaigning to bring a change.
- Many argue if this act was vandalism or activism but I believe it was activism because they were standing up for what they believed in and they wouldn't ship the tea back so it would have ultimately gone to waste anyways.
- The angry colonists dumped about 92,000 pounds of tea into the Boston harbor(an estimated 1-2 million dollars today).
- The actions of the colonists infuriated the British, causing them to pass the Intolerable acts.
- The colonists became more and more angry and wanted more freedom... eventually leading to revolt against the British and revolution.
