טקסט Storyboard

  • Nitrogen gas makes up 78% of ouratmosphere and nitrogen is also a part ofmany molecules essential to life like proteins, nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and some vitamins. Nitrogen is found in other biologically important compounds such as alkaloids and urea too.
  • Nitrogen Fixation
  • Nitrogen is thus an essential nutrient for all life-forms and life would be simple if all these life-forms could use the atmospheric nitrogen directly so, the nitrogen fixing bacteria helps it to convert to simple forms such as nitrites, nitrates and ammonia.
  • The nitrogen from atmosphere gets settled into and then nitrogen fixing bacteria helps to covert to nitrates, nitrites and ammonia.

  • Nitrification
  • Nitrification is a microbial process by which reduced nitrogen compounds (primarily ammonia) are sequentially oxidized to nitrite and nitrate.
  • Soil
  • The nitrogen-fixing bacteria are found in the roots of legumes (generally the plants which give us pulses) in special structures called root nodules.

  • Ammonification
  • Ammonification is the process where microscopic organisms like bacteria or other types of decomposing organisms, break down nitrogen containing chemicals from dead organic matter, into simple substances like ammonia.
  • Denitrification
  • Denitrification is the process in which nitrate get converted to nitrogen gas.
  • Nitrogen cycle is important because:-Helps in converting inert nitrogen gas into a usable form for the plants through the biochemical process.Ammonification helps the bacteria help in decomposing the animal and plant matter, which indirectly helps to clean up the environment.Nitrates and nitrites helps in enriching the soil with the necessary nutrients required for cultivation.
