- The first stage in Erikson's theory of psychosocial development begins at birth and lasts through one year. Infants learn to trust that their caregivers will meet their basic needs. For example, David learns to trust his mother as she's comforting him at the doctor's.
- Trust VS. Mistrust (Infancy-1)

- Erikson's second stage of psychological development occurs between the ages of 18 months to around age 2 or 3 years, children at this stage are focused on developing a greater sense of self-control. For example, Bella is learening to go to the bathroom by herself.

- We should clean the classroom and put all the supplies away.
- The third stage of psychosocial developnent leads to a sense of purpose and can help develop leadership skills; failure results in guilt. For example, Mark is encouraging his friend Sofia to help clean up.
