- Before Conditioning
- Jack loves aliens and playing with toys. Here, Jack is playing with his alien figures in the living room. Aliens are the NS, which elicits no response.
- Before Conditioning
- The loud noise of the fireworks is the UCS which elicits a fear response, the UCR, through screaming and crying.
- AHHHH! It hurts, too loud!
- Are you okay Jack?
- Classical Conditioning is when an individual learns to link 2 or more stimuli and anticipate events.
- I can't wait to watch the movie! Mom I'm so excited!
- Alien vs. Predator
- . Jack and his mother are at the movie theater to see Alien vs. Predator.
- Me too! Let's go sit down.
- While watching the movie. An alien jumps to the screen, accompanied by a loud screech. Jack screams and cries, eliciting a fear response which is the UCR. The alien is the NS. The UCS is the loud noise from the screech.
- AHHHHHH! MOMMY!

- During Conditioning
- Are you okay, Jack?
- When Jack and his mom get home from the movie theater, Jack goes on the family computer to watch YouTube. He watches a video about science and space when suddenly, an alien appears on the screen and Jack screams and begins to cry. The alien becomes the CS. Fear of aliens and screaming and crying become the CR.
- After Conditioning
- AHHHHH! MOMMY!
- Now every time Jack sees anything that resembles an alien or anything green with two to four eyes, Jack begins to scream and cry. This is called generalization which is when stimuli similar to the conditioned stimulus elicits similar responses.
- After Conditioning
- AHHHHH! GET AWAY FROM ME!
- Hey kid! Would you like to see my pet frog?
