Doctors do chech ups on the immigrants to make sure they are healthy.
The Kissing Post
In the registry room immigrants were checked for many things, like diseases and record. The registry room was so big it was called the great hall.
After the inspections this staircase was where people would go their separate ways.
The reason this is called the kissing post is because this is where most families came together. They had made it to America.
