- In this story, Harrison Bergeron, Kurt Vonnegut makes the idea that equality was just the coverup plan for the main goal. Many people believed that in the story. In the story, the government controls people with the handicaps and forced people to wear them intheirears in order for their control of there thoughts andmemories. The moral of the story is we need to express our thoughts and feelingsfreely and not be suppressed. Therefore, this story overall was about government taking over the people minds and thoughts
