- In district 12 of the country Panem, Katniss Everdeen lives with her mom and her sister Primrose. It is the poorest of the 12 districts. There town specializes in digging and mining for coal. Katniss hunts to supply her poor family with food.
- Climax
- Every year there is a "Reaping" where the Capital chooses a boy and girl to fight to the death in the Hunger Games. Primrose gets her name drawn but Katniss volunteers take her sisters spot. Peeta Mellark is the boy who is chosen to fight.
- Falling Action
- Katniss spends a lot of time at the Capital training and learning how to survive. When the games start, she uses her skills with hunting and her bow to survive. She manages to get some supplies and hides in the trees to avoid other people
- Resolution
- Katniss and Peeta fight there way to be the last 2 alive. Due to a rule change there can only be ONE winner of the games. They decide instead of one of them dieing and one living with it, they would rather both eat the poisonous berries and kill themselves.
- Katniss and Peeta are both winners of the game because the capital decided they needed to at least have one winner. All of Peeta's wounds are healed and Katniss has to deal with the capital mad at her because it was her idea just to kill themselves.
- They are welcomed very warmly when they return back to District 12. Peeta returns to his family and Katniss returns to hers but Katniss still in the back of her head is fighting between liking Peeta or returning to Gale, Her best friend.
