- I choose this poem because of how the family was brought together by that one thing, the gap in her mother's teeth. I believe that this was a large statement and that this shows passion for the way she loves her family. At the end of the poem, it says the people wear doubt thick as a cape until we smile and the cape falls this shows the way that people might not always be brought together in a literal state but they might be brought together in a state of genetics. This shows that they are brought together not the way of others, which means their unique and different. In conclusion, I choose this because of the way that people are brought together and because of the way it shows she loves her family
