  • When Simon faced the Lord of the flies, he fainted and felt as if the pig's round mouth had swallowed him. At the end of chapter 9, a round mouth is made by the boys who dance in a circle around Simon and kill him

  • - The plane crash symbolizes the breakdown of modern society. The boys leave England to get away from the war and are shot down by the enemy
