- Julius Caesar was born in 100BCE and became the head of his family at the age of 16 on his father's sudden death. Caesar knew that to succeed he needed to increase his wealth and know influential people.
- He's gone this way!
- Caesar and his family were considered enemies of Sulla and were forced to leave Rome. Yet on Sulla's death Caesar returned home and started to build his political career. Caesar increased his popularity by his excellent oratory skills and by bribing the right people.
- How about a tour!
- In 60BCE Caesar made a pact with two other leading political figures Pompey and Crassus. They agreed to get Caesar elected as consul. They succeeded in 59BCE. After Caesar's consulship ended he went on to be the Governor of Gaul.
- It was nice knowing you Caesar...
- Caesar's had begun to rise in popularity and his military success in Gaul. He was also beginning to act without consulting the Senate. Pompey worried about Caesar's popularity and fled from Rome to Egypt.
- When Caesar arrived in Egypt King Ptolemy presented Pompey's head to him. Yet whilst in Egypt King Ptolemy sister Queen Cleopatra had won Caesar's favour and they became romantically involved. Cleopatra had soon birthed Caesar's child named Caesarion. Caesar soon after returned to Rome
- In 44BCE, Caesar was name dictator for life. His success was too much for some Senators, so in march 44BCE. 60 senators crowded around Caesar and killed, him including Brutus, with 32 stabs. This soon led to a Civil War ending the Roman republic.
