- We came to America so that we could get away from the lack of political economy, dire economic conditions, and religious conflicts
- The inventor of the railroads was John Stevens. On Christmas day in 1830 the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Company completed the first mechanical passenger train. Railways lowered the cost of transporting many goods across far distances and helped drive settlement in the western regions. Counties were able to work more easily together due to decreased travel time and was essential to to the nation's industrialization.
- When the Irish came to America they helped build our infrastructure. They came in the 1850's because of the Potato Famine. They were very poor so the only thing they could eat were potatoes. The potatoes had diseases in them so once they ate the potatoes they would get very sick and could die. They decided that coming to America and working would be better than being extremely poor and getting sick and dying.
