Of Mice and Men - Theme: Dreams are not always achievable

- In this scene, Curley's wife (right) is talking to Lennie (left). They were talking in the barn, and Curley's wife was talking about her past and how she was supposed to work as an actress in movies. She mentioned how the guy never called her back or sent a letter, and she was angry, as shown from the board above. This has to do with the theme because Curley's wife could not achieve her dream, and she gave up on it.
- In this scene, George (right) and Candy (left) are talking to each other at the barn. Earlier that day, Lennie accidentally killed Curley's wife, and everyone at the farm came to check it out. After discovering it, Candy asked George if they could still purchase their own land and live nice lives. However, now that Lennie killed someone, George and Candy most likely knew they would never achieve that goal, which directly ties into the theme.
- This scene is one of the last ones in the final chapter, and it is when George meets Lennie in the forest. He came here to kill Lennie, as he wanted to do the job before the others did. Killing Lennie ultimately decided George would never pursue this dream he and Lennie had. The only reason George was following it was because of Lennie, and now he didn't have a reason to carry on with the idea. The theme dreams are not always achievable relates here as if Lennie didn't kill Curley's wife, George wouldn't have to kill him.
