Act 1, Scene 5

Macbeth and Banquo receive news of the Thane of Cowder execution. This initiates of committing murder in order to obtain the crown.
Act 1, Scene 6 & 7
Meanwhile...
King Duncan executes the Thane of Cowder and thanks Macbeth.
The Thane of Cowder betrayed you in battle!
Lady Macbeth tries to persuade Macbeth to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth asks the spirits to turn her kindness into bitterness.
