- Hi! I'm Carlos. Wanna be friends?
- Yeah!I'm Jerome
- Take it! It's fine.
- Um......
- OH, NO!
- Carlos, the new kid becomes friends with Jerome at lunch while hiding in the washroom from the bullies. Carlos is in great need of a friend as well as Jerome. Jerome breaks his no friends rule and becomes friends with Carlos.
- Carlos gives Jerome the toy gun that he used to scare off the bullies in the washroom. Jerome feels scared taking the gun even though it is a toy gun because he isn't used to having something that looks like a gun. He is also scared of having the gun because he would get in trouble if his mom or dad finds out.
- How can I see you?
- Jerome gets shot by officer Moore because he thinks that Jerome's toy gun is a real gun and is a threat to him. He also thought that Jerome, a 12-year-old boy is a 25-year-old grown man.
- Hi! I am Jerome Rogers.
- I am Emmett Till!
- Officer Moore is held in a preliminary hearing to find out if he is guilty or not for shooting Jerome. He says that he did not say police or put your hands up. He just took out his gun and shot the boy.
- Officer Moore's daughter Sarah can see Jerome as a ghost. At first, Jerome is very rude to her. But later on, Jerome begins to notice that Sarah isn't that bad of a person.
- Jerome meets another ghost named Emmett Till. Emmett Till was also shot by a white police officer in 2014. He was 14 when he died.  Emmett Till also shows Jerome all the other ghost boys who died and most of them are children.
