The odyssey

Odysseus is leaving Calypso to go home to Ithaca. Calypso doesn't want him to leave tho.

"She pleaded, she wept, she stormed but at last she had to submit and let Odysseus go."

Odysseus is on his way home when Poseidon knocks him into the sea leaving him stranded in the sea.

"Odysseus was thrown into the gnashing sea and swallowed, body and soul."

Odysseus washes up on a island and now looks really old. The people on the island don't believe he is really Odysseus.

"He picked up a mirror which belonged to one of the girls. He did not recognize the face he saw in it."

Alcinous actually knows it is Odysseus and wants to help him get to his kingdom Ithaca. Odysseus is very thankful of Alcinous helping him.

"You told my daughter Nausicaa that you are Odysseus, and I see in your eyes that you spoke the truth."

Odysseus sets off on his final voyage to his home.

"So at dawn he boarded the ship which Alcinous gave him, and lay down on the fore deck."

At last Odysseus has reached Ithaca and is left there sleeping after the crew leaves.

"Odysseus is home again - Safely home with wife and kin."
