Gina's story is very inspiring as a pursuing educator.
How so?
Gina's mother did not stop advocating for her daughter's rights. She fought for Gina to receive the proper education and socialization.
Gina's mother attended Queens College and got her masters in special education. She went back to school to better support and advocate for her daughter's educational rights.
As educators, we should advocate for each of our students. Each student deserves the right of education and socialization with peers. Students should be placed in the least restrictive environments and have socialization with peers.
