- Vismaya Nair, an Ayurveda medical student, was found hanging in her bathroom. she was harassed and tortured by her husband and her in-laws over dowry demands . The 500 page charge sheet says that she committed suicide and there were 102 witnesses and 56 pieces of evidences.
- Archana, 24, was found dead with burn injuries in her husband's house. There are allegations of her husband's family demanding 3 lakh rupees from her father.

- However, not every marriage demands dowry and not every bride's family sees dowry system as a symbol of pride but it is to be noted that dowry system is not completely eradicated.
- As long as women are treated as geese that lay golden eggs by their in-laws, marriage is seen as a business deal and dowry giving is seen as pride on the bride's part, it is highly impossible to prevent women from becoming victims of dowry system.
