- Because of a census, Mary and Joseph travelled from Nazareth to Bethlehem which was David's home town
- All of the inns were full but they could stay in a stable
- Mary gave birth to baby Jesus
- The shepherds were visited by an angel and told that a king had been born and that they were to find in in a stable and lying in a manger
- The shepherds went to visit Jesus in the stable
