- The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers - J.R.R Tolkien
- Frodo and Sam had just left the fellowship of the ring by boat while being attacked by orcs because the ring's power had started to corrupt some of the people in the fellowship.
- After capturing him, Gollum tells them that he can bring them to Mordor (which is where they are trying to go), and Frodo and Sam decide to trust him.
- After traveling for some time they finally realize that they were lost and that Gollum (a creature drawn to the ring) was following them.
- Well, master, we're in a fix and no mistake.
- They decided to trap him by pretending to sleep and then attacking him when he tries to steal the ring.
- Eventually Gollum leads them to the Dead Marshes, where corpses of dead soldiers from a battle long ago lay preserved in the pools. Gollum warns them not to look at the green lights, but Frodo is entranced by them and falls into the murky water. Luckily, Sam is able to drag him out before he is seriously injured.
- The tricksy lights. Candles of corpses, yes, yes. Don't you heed them. Don't look! Don't follow them!
- Once they finally arrive at the entrance to Mordor, they realize that it's heavily guarded, but Gollum says that he knows another way in...
