טקסט Storyboard

  • One thing that resonated with me is Gina Aquatic therapy. This is both helpful for her improvement and movement also she was able to find enjoyment and turn it into a hobby eventually. I understood why her mom wanted the best instructors to work with Gina, it must have not been easy to trust someone with her disabled child after mommy and me sessions at first. Hopefully she has found a good adult program for Gina to continue aquatic therapy.
  • Gina had her very own sweet 16 from her home.
  • YOU'RE INVITED TO GINAS SWEET 16!
  • GINAS SWEET 16!!
  • As a female sweet 16 are something most girls love, enjoy and will look back at and remember. Im glad she was able to have one. She didn't like big parties so they adjusted for her from the comfort of her own home. She was happy and spend times with the her loved ones who are always there for her
  • her dad wanted a big party for her but she doesnt like big parties
  • Most importantly what stood with me from her story is the immense support system Gina has had since her birth. From her two parents especially her mom who will go to all lengths to make sure the right people surround her and she gets the appropriate support she needs un all aspects of her life.
  • Further more she has her siblings, family, friends, teachers, instructors and therapist like her swimming teacher that made memories with her and helped her improve emotionally and physically.
  • Gina traveled all the way to Tijuana, Mexico for a Stem Cell Transplant. Although she was denied this transplant in the US because it was not legal and due to her systems no one would agree to it. I don't disagree with this to her but it does make me wonder how did her doctors react to this when she returned or if they ever found out about the procedure ? Also what were some other side effects other than the high fever and rosy cheeks.
  • On the bright side she was physically stronger and more aware of her surroundings. In addition to making her new friend Joanne and enjoying the beach which she previously did not like!
  • Another part of the presentation that stood out to me in terms of triggering questions and disagreements is when Gina was being taught how to sort utensils. She did not enjoy the experience where the lady physically grabs her hands and does it for her on top. I don't think her method was effective because of the expressions of discomfort sounds Gina made. The lady could've worked a little slower and start off with easier sorting materials such as blocks and worked her way up. As well as starting just movements and no objects as a warm up so Gina can get the hang of it, she was a little aggressive and harsh. The video made me wonder if her mom said anything to the lady afterwards and if they returned to that place.
  • Lastly to thank those who do put in the effort, time and try to and remind them their involvement is just as powerful as ours to their child's educational journey.

  • One way to help parents share their voice would be encouraging them for programs in school where they can express themselves and take apart in the school environment such as clubs and parent association meetings.
  • a parent survey and evaluation can be another way for them to express their voice. This survey can be emailed or done on a document for parents to fill out and send back, The survey would address things like our communication, ways for myself to improve, and how involved they are with their child education with me . I can also include a section for comments and questions.
  • Another way would be to create a partnership with them as well. I can utilize apps, zoom meetings, arrange times for weekly phone calls for parents to express to me of any concerns, suggestions, updates, introduce what we're doing in class and how they can help their child out.
