There are two types of elephants, elephants with a long trunk and elephants with a short trunk. Their trunks help them reach for food and allows them to eat. They can reach food from high or low.
Different Survival
The elephant population is growing fast and this is causing resources to become scarce. Since the population is growing largely, things like food is starting to become harder for the elephants to get.
Different Reproduction
Overtime, foods elephants can eat have started to be grown on taller trees. The plants started to. grow taller in response to the need for them. This was because the elephant populations tarted to grow more.
Adaption
The taller trees favor the elephants with longer trunks. This is because they can use their trunks to reach higher places. On the other hand, the elephants with shorter trunks can't reach into higher places due to its trunk.
The elephants with the longer trunks can successfully get their food now. With food, the elephants with longer trunks can now reproduce more elephants with long trunks. While the elephants with short trunks will have a harder time finding food due to its short trunk.
The elephants with the longer trunks have a better chance at surfing because they can reach higher places for food unlike the elephants with shorter trunks. Since this favors the elephants with longer trunks, more of them will reproduce. While the elephants with shorter trunks will. only have a few remaining. This will make there be more elephants with longer trunks start to dominate the elephants so they survive.
