- Ambulance siren getting louder as it approaches
- You see, as the ambulance approaches us, it's siren has a higher frequency.
- When it is stationery in front of us, it is at it's loudest point
- Sound wave scrunching together

- As it moves away from us, the siren's sound frequency is lower.
- Also, as the ambulance drives away the waves are stretched out and the wave length is longer while when it is approaching you, the waves are srunched together making the wave length shorter.
- Sound wave stretching out
- These sound changes occur as when sound waves travel farther from their source, the more spread out their energy becomes.
- This is called the Doppler Effect.
