- The time came when the flock of geese was departing the island for the winter. The geese were ready. Brightbill said "Bye" to Roz. The flock departed. Roz stood on a tree branch and waved goodbye to the flock. The flock disappeared into the horizon.
- Roz's first winter was very cold. Animals were freezing to death. Roz built lodges to save some of the weak animals from dying. When Roz finished building all of the lodges, she saw a fire coming from the second lodge that she had built. Roz saw a frightened mother hare, she asked the hare what was wrong. The hare said "My son is trapped in the burning lodge!" Roz didn't hesitate at all. She ran into the lodge and grabbed the hare. Roz noticed that the door had crumbled. She busted herself out of the lodge and passed over the mother hare's son. Roz then put out the fire and rebuilt the lodge with the help of the animals.
- Finally, spring came and Roz saw the flock of geese flying back to the island. When the flock landed safely, Brightbill waddled over to Roz. Roz and Brightbill went back to the Nest and then Brightbill started telling Roz about his trip.
