First Wish: Money
"I wish for two hundred pounds"
The father (Mr. White) and the son (Herbert) are introduced while playing chess, while the mother (Mrs. White) is observing the game.
Second Wish: Life
"I wish my son alive again."
A friend (Sergeant-Major Morris of the family visits for dinner and introduces the monkey's paw.
Last Wish: Death
"I'm coming, Herbert; I'm coming"
After making a wish for 200 pounds, Herbert gets killed and the Whites get the money as compensation.
Mr. White is persuaded by Mrs. White to wish back their son from the dead and bring him to life.
Mr. White wishes for his son to disappear / die again.
