- Hester, Pearl, and Dimsdale reconnect when she is 7 years old. They decide to run away together to Europe because Dimdale is getting more ill with each passing day.

- I can't believe he just left us like that...
- As Hester arranges the ship for them to board, she discovers Chillingworth as a passenger on the same ship. Chillingworth had discovered their plan to escape.
- There was an engraving of the scarlet letter on his chest! I saw it!
- After Dimsdale's final sermon, he couldn't bear to keep the secret and confesses his adultery with Hester and that he was the father of Pearl. And soon after, he dies in Hester's arms.

- Hester and Pearl leave Boston shortly after and Chillingworth dies a year later, leaving Pearl an enormous inheritance.
- The townspeople were divided on the fact of whether a red "A" actually appeared on Dimsdale's chest when he passed. Some said they witnessed the whole scene while some denied the hear say.
- I definitely did not see any letters on the Reverend's chest.
- Hester eventually returns to Boston after Pearl is married; still wearing the letter on her chest. After she passed, she was buried near Dimsdale with an “A” engraved on it.
