I do not approve of you studing dance!
I, Ahmad Joudeh was born in Al Yarmouk Camp, Damascus, Syria on the 4th April 1990. I was born here because my parents were Palestinian and became stateless.
Mr Assad vowed to crush what he called "foreign-backed terrorism". Syria civil war happened and me and my family were forced to leave.
My father did not approve of my interest in dance, I persisted, studying dance in Damascus.
I moved to the Netherlands with the help of the Dutch National Ballet Company.
In 2014 I was a contestant in the Arab version of “So you Think you Can Dance”. I made it to the semi finals but because I was a Palestinian with out a national identity I was told I coulden't win.
In 2016 Roozbeh Kaboly, from the Dutch news program Nieuws, made a 15 - minute long documentary about me called “Dance or Die”. I am currently internationally active as an artist.
