  • Alright guys , we wont be going outside today to do the activity because of the rainy weather .
  • Madi-Yay!
  • Jessi-Sweet! we can just chill for the period.
  • Kris-(Has been quiet since the weather started to get worse outside)
  • (Mr. Williams notices Kris behavior is off from his usual outgoing character ands says) " Hey Kris can I speak to you outside in the hallway?"
  • Hey Jessi wanna start our Prjoect?
  • (Kris looks over startled and says "Yes sir".
  • Sure thing Madi!
  • Hey Kris I know its been a couple of weeks since your house got struck by lightning ,have you talked with anyone? Is everything okay with you?
  • Honestly no sir, I haven't been able to sleep and the weather outside doesn't help. Just reminds me of what happened.
  • When it comes to PTSD the average person can get it or have symptoms it Not everyone who experiences a traumatic event will develop PTSD. Symptoms of PTSD are more likely to occur if a person has risk factors such as a traumatic event, previous abuse, substance abuse, and lastly family history of it. Going through trauma is not rare. About 6 of every 10 men (or 60%) and 5 of every 10 women (or 50%) experience at least one trauma in their lives.
  • Really? I haven't even looked into the statistics or recommendations. I've been trying to handle it on my own. I'm grown enough to do it.
  • Kris there is nothing wrong with seeking help/Counseling. By going and seeking help you're taking a step in the right direction from a traumatic event . People are usually afraid of getting help because of stigma, shame and rejection, as well as low metal health literacy, or fear of negative social consequences.
  • Funny you should say that I've been afraid to talk about it with anyone because I don't want to be looked as weak to everyone. I bottle everything up and think I can handle it on my own but sometimes it becomes too much.
  • Anytime you need to talk , my door is always open! We are all here for you Kris, your friends your family, and even the teachers.
  • Thank you so much Mr. Williams. You're honestly the first person to really talk to me and since my shift in energy. As well as thank you for educating me on PTSD I will definitely take you up on that opportunity sir.
