- The Spaniards paved way into Filipino politics
- Graft and corruption reigned as the Spaniards colonized us 
- They would deprive us of positions in the government
- Well then, I guess corruption will always be in the Philippines

- Not quite my dear, have you ever heard of Dr. Jose Rizal?
- I'll talk about him more later, I have chores to do.
- Rizal tried to fight graft and corruption from high leveled Filipino politicians who used government money for their own desires
- Hmm, I guess Jose Rizal made a big impact on Filipino Politics
- This sparked the revolution on which the novels gave the ordinary people the idea that oppression must no longer exist in their relationship with Spain and high ranking Filipino officials
- Rizal's efforts in writing novels to open the minds of those deprived of their rights and ability to have decent lives
- Hey mom, I did my research and learned that if we continue to vote for those who seek only gains for their own then we will never overcome our true oppressors
