  • Illegal consumption of drugs are rampant in the country, resulting in the rehabilitation of juveniles and minors who consume it without proper prescription.
  • Effects of Substance Abuse to Oneself and Its Prevention
  • Hmm...my friends recommended me to try this out...
  • Oh, what will I do?
  • But aren't these drugs? Will they stop seeing me if I don't try it?
  • One cause of teens getting into drugs is peer pressure. Unless they do things that their friends do, they will not "fit in" the group.
  • But they're the only friends I have...I'll lose them when I refuse...
  • Fine, just one try, then that's it, so I can have something to say to them...
  • When one gets addicted to the substance, they'll do anything to get it because of the euphoria it gives and think of nothing else. Substance abuse may lead to poor school performance, lack of self respect, and depression.

  • The victim loses self esteem, confidence, and the sight of the value in life. They can also exhibit early aggressive behavior because of the inability to express themselves properly or at all.
  • Lecturing children early on by parents about the consequences and bad influences of substance abuse can help them develop the courage to refuse taking drugs just to be accepted by a group of friends. With encouragement and support from the parents, the youth can avoid substance abuse at an early age.
  • Illegal consumption of substances are a bad influence. You don't have to get into the bandwagon of substance abuse.
  • That's why it's important to choose your friends in school wisely, preferably those who don't do drugs so you won't get pressured into it.
