- These are my rocks.
- RISING ACTION
- It's a beautiful sunny day in the village, a good day for "the lottery."
- CLIMAX
- Ok, folks! It's time to get started.
- Everyone is starting to gather in the village. The boys have gathered their rocks and made a pile on the corner square. The girls are talking amongst themselves and the menfolk are doing the same.
- FALLING ACTION
- As the last of 300 villagers makes their way into town, so does Mr. Summers and he is carrying the black box. One of the only tradition that's managed to remain throughout the years of "the lottery."
- RESOLUTION
- As I call your name please make your way up here and draw a white slip of paper out of the box and do not look at it until the last person has their turn.
- It's Mr. Hutchinson. But wait Mrs. Hutchinson said, you didn't give him time to pick the one he wanted to. You rushed him!
- Wait...you rushed him.
- Well, who would have thought "the lottery" was a gathering of the villagers to determine who they would cast stones at. Mrs. Hutchinson was this year's lucky winner of "the lottery."
- But it's not fair
