  • The main psychoactive ingredient, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), stimulates the part of your brain that responds to pleasure, like food and sex. That unleashes a chemical called dopamine, which gives you a euphoric, relaxed feeling. Although It can often leave you anxious, afraid, panicked, or paranoid as well as Heighten your senses and Lower your inhibitions.
  • What happens in the brain when you take marijuana?
  • When THC binds to receptors in the brain, new connections cannot be formed, decreasing the number of synapse connections made. This affects cognitive ability, and in the long run, it affects learning, skill mastery, and concentration.
  • What occurs at the synapse?
  • When someone takes marijuana for the first time a release of dopamine is released as marijuana mimics feelings of pleasure. Eventually when someone continues to use marijuana this creates a habit in the brain which is seen as a good and pleasurable thing, so the brain and the person becomes addicted.
