  • The Battle of the Alamo is a battle between the Republic of Texas and Mexico. It took place in a fort in San Antonio called the Alamo. It was fought over the land of Texas.

  • The Louisana Purchase was signed to double the U.S.'s size for farmers to sell their crops and gain resources such as water, animals, timber, and minerals from places like the Mississippi River and New Orleans. On the other hand, Napoleon and the French needed to sell the occupied land to pay off war debts with Britain.

  • President Andrew Jackson believed that the land he bought from Napoleon and the French was his property and forced the 5 civilized tribes to move to Oklahoma even though the Natives had lived there for thousands of years. Although many Natives resisted and did not want to succumb to the United States' firepower, there were others who believed that this could be a new opportunity for freedom from the United States.

  • The Oregon Trail was a route from Independence, Missouri to Oregon Country. People traveled through harsh weather for gold, other resources, and new opportunities. With the purchase of Oregon Country America had finally completed Manifest Destiny.

  • The killing of the Buffalo was a way for the Americans to get revenge from Sitting Bull and the Lakota people for the death of General Custer, who died in the Battle of Little Bighorn.
  • Although Mexico won the Battle of the Alamo, there was a long-term effect in which Texas became stronger and eventually declared its independence from Mexico. For the Texans, the Battle of the Alamo was significant because it rallied the rest of Texas to fight against the Mexican army, which eventually enabled the Texans to gain victory over Mexico in the Battle of San Jacinto.

  • The Mexican American War is significant to the United States because they gain more power, money, and land from Mexico and the United States got one step closer to completing its Manifest Destiny. This was an important event for Mexico as they lost more than half of their territory and many resources to the United States.

  • For Americans, the purchase of the Oregon Trail was quite significant because it rallied citizens to move to the West Coast for new resources such as gold, and thereby fulfill Manifest Destiny. For Native tribes, the Oregon Trail was important because it led to conflicts between their tribes and the new American settlers looking to lay down roots.

  • Yes, and props to James K Polk for getting us this land and props to the British for selling it to us. I am glad that we have finally completed Manifest Destiny
  • The killing of Buffaloes was life-changing for the Native Americans, specifically the Lakota people because the Buffalo was their main source of resources providing them with meat for food, the bones for tools, and the fur for apparel. On the other hand, the near extinction of the Buffalo allowed the Americans to avenge General Custer and gain an edge over the Lakota.
  • No! Please don't do this, we need the Buffalo to survive.
