- The Priest of Zeus asks for help from Oedipus to find the killer of the previous king. This is because the oracle told them that the plague they are facing will stop if the killer is brought to justice. The chorus pray to the gods to help them in this time.
- Oedipus starts his hunt for the killer by asking the chorus for any information. When no one comes forward he begins to threaten the killer with what he´ll do once he catches them. Creon brings a seer to tell Oedipus what he knows, he says that Oedipus is the killer. The chorus starts to worry that Oedipus is the killer and hope that the killer if someone else.
- Creon and Oedipus argue on which one of them is the killer. Creon starts to list why he is innocent to Oedipus, but Oedipus is still not sure. Jocasta comes in and tells them to stop fighting. The chorus believes Creon´s innocents and tries to calm Oedipus down. Jocasta talks to Oedipus to get him to explain his thought.
- Oedipus brings a shepherd the was there for the murder and has him tell the story. As the story goes on both Jocasta and Oedipus start to put it together. The Chorus expresses their feeling on the situation and reveal the Oedipus was doomed from the start.
- A messager brings news that Jocasta killed herself in the palace and Oedipus found her. Once he finds her, he blinds himself and he apologizes to the people that he failed. Creon and him talk over their problems and he asks him to raise his children as his own
- The chorus gives their last words to Oedipus and give a statement on te whole story. They rap up the story and keep the tone of tragedy throughout the play.
