- I'm glad we are separating the Louisian Purchase! It will be good to have to have more slavery so we don't have to work!
- Why should slavery be decided by people who just moved here! The people who were here first should decide if slavery should occur!

- The Kansas Nebraska Act divided what was left of the Louisiana Purchase into two parts known as Kansas and Nebraska. The Antislavery Northerners were outraged by this.
- In May 1856 pro slavery grand jury charged leaders of antislavery with treason for creating their own government so the Antislavery leaders left. Due to this pro slavery leaders attacked Lawrence and set fires to people's homes.
- On May 24, 1856, John Brown a leader for antislavery killed five proslavery men in Pottawatomie. This caused a war to break out that resulted in 200 casualties which became known as the Pottawatomie Massacre.
