  • The movement to end the discrimination against blacks started and many teenagers and young activists marched and were ultimately arrested and put in jail for fighting for justice.
  • “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
  • Thousands of people, of all races and religions, joined the march to Washington D.C., protesting to end the discrimination against blacks. The movement encouraged others to join from all over the country.
  • BOOM!

  • Many marched to the Lincoln Memorial Monument to continue protesting for their rights. The movement was growing and the crowd increased each time.
  • "Who did it?...We all did it...every person in this community who has in any way contributed... to the popularity of hatred is at least as guilty...as the demented fool who threw that bomb."
  • All of the major civil rights groups and activist leaders spoke at the event, they were the ones who had coordinated the event. Then, Dr. Martin Luther King gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech at the capitol.
  • There was a bombing at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham during Sunday service. The explosion tragically killed four young black girls.
  • The bombing affected both the blacks and whites. Charles Morgan gives a speech the day after the bombing in Birmingham.
