- Grandfather bought Toto from the Tonga driver for Rs.5
- The narrator, Ruskin bond lived with his grandparents
- His grandfather was an animal lover
- His grandmother fussed with the arrival of a new animal
- He was shifted to the servant quarters where other pets lived together
- Toto was a pretty monkey, his eyes filled with mischief and his tail added extra beauty to him and worked as his third hand
- He was tied to a hook in the closet of narrator's bedroom
- Toto's presence was kept as a secret from grandmother.
- A few hours later when grandfather and narrator came to release Toto...
- My school blazer!!!......What will grandmother say??
- Great time...he would have tied your blazer as a rope and escaped through the window
- Toto didn't allow any of his companions to sleep
