Texte du Storyboard

  • All stars start off in a nebula which is a cloud of hydrogen gas and dust in space. The new star is at first called a protostar.
  • In the proto star hydrogen gas is compressed which starts the process of nuclear fusion. This causes the star to start shining.
  • Stars then enter a stage where they are referred to as main-sequence stars. The Fusion produces energy that goes outwards but this is balanced by the intense gravity that a star has pulling the energy inwards. The fusion also creates helium.
  • However, a Massive star (which is more than 8 times the mass of the sun) will then eject all of its mass outwards in what is known as a supernova.
  • It will then create two things as the result of the supernova. It can either create a neutron star which is a hot, superdense core made up of neutrons. This usually happens with star on the smaller side.
  • Or it can create a black hole which is a place where gravity is so strong that not even light can escape it. This usually happens with bigger stars.
