- This scene represents the climax because this represents Miss Lottie's marigolds as Lizabeth tears them apart.
- This shows the aftermath of Lizabeth's destruction. The marigolds are gone and nothing more is left. This also shows Lizabeth's realization as she stares in Miss Lottie's eyes.
- The flowers represent Lizabeth planting her own marigolds after she realizes how important the flowers were for the community.
