  • That is not enough for France. You should go back to your country and think it through.
  • I will give you $10 million dollars for New Orleans and Florida.
  • Texas - Bringing 300 families - 1820-1821
  • Welcome to Texas.
  • why did we even come here?
  • Dad says it is really cheap and the land is good for cotton.
  • Trail of Tears - 1831-1837
  • President Jackson told our people to move west to make room for the Americans. He even said we should move onto reservations to give our people better lives.
  • Why do we have to move from our land Father?
  • From the perspective of the United States, purchasing the land gave Americans economic opportunities and allowed the United Sates to send their products to the port of New Orleans, where they could be sent all around the world. However, from the perspective of the Native Americans, they had not heard about this deal, and soon enough they would have to start moving westward, which was a start of Manifest Destiny.
  • Mexican War - 1846-1848
  • FIRE!
  • From the perspective of the United States, moving the Indigenous tribes to the west meant that the United States would have more land, and the land was fruitful and allowed them to continue progressing economy. From the Native Americans point of view, they had to abandon their sacred land, and they even tried adopting white peoples’ ways.
  • Oregon Territory Deal - 1846
  • From the perspective of settlers, coming to Texas was a great deal because Texas was cheap, land was good, it was good for growing cotton, and it stored many great opportunities. From Mexico’s point of view, they did not want neighbors with different beliefs, they even sent over soldiers toc heck on the Texans to see if they were following the laws and practicing Catholicism.
  • Wounded Knee Massacre - 1890
  • FIRE!!!
  • From the perspective of the Texans, the Mexican War was very important since this was the war that would expand their territory and make them look very powerful. From the Mexican’s perspective, this war was when Mexico lost power to the United States, which made Mexico unstable.
  • We have to win this, it will make Texas even more powerful!!!!
  • From the perspective of the United States, making this deal for the Oregon territory accomplished their goal of spreading from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, and it also had valuable recourses, money to be made by fishing and shipping, and mining for gold. From the Native Americans point of view, they soon realized that the Americans were flooding Oregon country, this was an important time because they could not go further westward.
  • I would love to formalize the border for the Oregon territory, I think it would benefit the U.S. and Britain.
  • From the perspective of the United States, Native Americans were savages and not a part of the United States, and the massacre at Wounded Knee is significant to them because it showed how disrespectful they were to the Native Americans and how they did not care about them. For the Native Americans this was important because this was where US soldiers shot any Native American that accidentally fired their gun, and those who shot Native Americans got awarded with medals.
  • What have you done?! Now they are going to shoot at us!!!
