- Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie, were assassinated in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip, a member of Young Bosnia.
- Technological Advances
- The Lusitania Sinks. The Lusitania was a British passenger ship that was torpedoed by an Imperial German Navy boat. Many people lost their lives.
- Influenza Pandemic
- Woodrow Wilson agrees for the Americans to enter the war. Woodrow Wilson actually requested to enter the war because he disagreed with Germany's attempt to ally Mexico against the United States.
- Alliances Were Formed
- The soldiers received new technological advances such as tanks, flamethrowers, poison gas, air traffic control, machine guns, etc.
- The Influenza Pandemic struck in 1918 during World War I killing somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. (More than the Great War) The Influenza was recorded the worst epidemic in World History.
- Allied Powers included Great Britain, Russia, Italy, and France. Central Powers were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria.
