Texte du Storyboard

  • Here in the trenches of World War 2 in 1942 two soldiers stop fighting to explain explosions
  • Hello I am Private Tommy and that is Sargent Jerry, we thought we would put down our guns for a bit to explain to you how an explosion works.
  • Speaking of explosions there is one now so we had better get started before the next one happens in this trench.
  • Yes because if that happened halfway through or explanation you would only now half of the facts about explosions !
  • Oh yes sorry. So when an explosion occurs it releases a large amount of energy, so it is known as an exothermic reaction.
  • Even a shot fired from a gun is an explosion, it is a sort of explosion known as a low explosive. How it happens is a spark is released at the end of the cylinder, it then travels down the tube and then ignites the gunpowder which then fires the bullet.
  • Can you two please hurry up because if a shell does land in the trench you want be able to finish explaining and I will not be able to finish my big question
  • Another sort of explosives called primary high explosives are very sensitive to heat , shock and friction , they are generally used as a detonator for the main charge.
  • The last sort of explosive is a secondary high explosive these are fairly safe to handle and need extreme heat, electrical fuse or sharp blow for it to explode. These can be dynamite or TNT
  • Thanks for your help I better let you get back to fighting!
  • Thanks for watching
