- First, Let's learn about the definition of HYPOTESIS and HYPOTESIS TESTING: HYPOTHESIS is a proposed explanation, assertion, or assumption about a population or distribution of a random variable.

- HYPOTHESIS TESTING is a statistical method applied in making decisions using a experimental data. It is basically testing an assumption.
- So example, The school record claims that the mean score in Math of the incoming Grade 11 students is 81. And the teacher wishes to find out if the claim is true. What is the Ho#160;#160;and Ha ?
- Now, there are two types of HYPOTHESIS, the NULL and the ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS. The NULL HYPOTHESIS is is the initial claim based on previous analyses and is denoted by Ho
- Very good question, so the answer to that is:𝐻𝑜: The mean score of the incoming Grade 11 students is 81 or 𝜇 = 81. #160;𝐻𝑎: The mean score of the incoming Grade 11 students is not 81 or 𝜇 ≠ 81.
- The ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS is contrary to the latter, which shows that observations are the result of a real effect and is denoted by Ha

- Another example, I'm assuming that is water bottle is 250ml. Ashley you state that NULL HYLPTHESIS and Ian you state the ALTERNATE HYPOTHESIS#160;
- Hm, maybe the Ha#160;would be: The bottled drink does not contain 250ml
- Easy, the Ho#160;would be: The bottled drink contains 250ml
- Well, that is all for today kids, Remember that the NULL HYPOTHESIS is the initial claim or the original assumption.The ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS is just basically contrary to what the latter says.
